(Cucumis sativus) This is one of the oldest cucumbers grown in English and early American gardens. Introduced to England in the 1770s as Long Turkey, it underwent breeding improvements in the 1790s after which it became known as London Long. It was again reselected in 1874 and marketed under the name Long Green Improved. The skin is dark green and slightly warty.
